What a wonderful yard you have for doing this. I appreciate you sharing the herb story and what your children enjoyed the most. Did they enjoy the sage because of the smell? I like what you said about the focus of the lesson being about reading and following directions. Good luck on the real estate - it sounds divine.

Dear Dana,
What lovely photographs. I came upon your site while reading about the horrendous injustices being perpetrated on the Dudek family in Germany. It was heartening to me to see what you are doing with herbs - we also are trying to do a vegetable garden. We live in suburbia far from my original New England home (Texas to be exact) but my dream has always been to farm and so I am doing it in a very tiny way in our front and back yard. Maybe if you are able to get the house with the 5 acres you could have some chickens too.
With all best regards from a fellow homeschooler,
Katherine

Thanks for linking to articles from your archives. I really enjoyed this. Gardening has many applications. No wonder Jesus used it as an example so often.
