After Thanksgiving dinner, my three year old son climbed up on a chair to watch me slice a piece of pumpkin pie.
“Whatcha doing?”“Getting ready to eat some pumpkin pie.”
A wonderful gleam appeared in his eye and he almost couldn’t contain his joy.
“Don’t eat me!”“Why on earth would I eat you?”
“Because I’m a pumpkin and you’re eating a pumpkin in your pie!”
What a sweet little pumpkin he is, too. Or, as I am prone to say, he is my sweet little pumpkin pie with whipped cream and a touch of nutmeg on top.

It’s amazing how kids can find the most simple things funny. Somehow most adults lose that ability somewhere along the way.
Awwww, I call my kids pumpkin too although my son is constantly correcting me that he’s not anything but his name! LOL
