I read Spunky's post on KidTrax back when she posted on it, but I hadn't seen Tricia's. Thanks!

momyjo2--I hope you're able to keep your kids home next year, if that is whay you are working toward. It really is wonderful.

Those people probably don't realize that at on time, those kinds of books were about the only kind available, huh? Children's literature is a pretty recent phenomenon. I would think children would love those...especially Gulliver's Travels!

There is some rich kindergarten somewhere on the East Coast that does the Iliad. I suppose that is refined if it is occuring in school?

My thoughts on socialization...

Why would I want my children to be socialists?

:)

We have almost mandatory preschool in my new state. People can't believe that I have my 4 yr. old still at home... and sadly, their POV is "How can you stand him after 4 years! Give yourself a break!". They totally don't get that I would love to have my other 3 at home with me all day too... maybe next year. I hope!
Of course, these are the same people who objected to us reading Moby Dick, Gulliver's Travels, and the Wizard of Oz/Ozma of Oz books to the kids... saying that exposing them this young will make them hate reading!
