Those people probably don’t realize that at on time, those kinds of books were about the only kind available, huh? Children’s literature is a pretty recent phenomenon. I would think children would love those…especially Gulliver’s Travels!

There is some rich kindergarten somewhere on the East Coast that does the Iliad. I suppose that is refined if it is occuring in school?

Why would I want my children to be socialists?

We have almost mandatory preschool in my new state. People can’t believe that I have my 4 yr. old still at home… and sadly, their POV is “How can you stand him after 4 years! Give yourself a break!”. They totally don’t get that I would love to have my other 3 at home with me all day too… maybe next year. I hope!
Of course, these are the same people who objected to us reading Moby Dick, Gulliver’s Travels, and the Wizard of Oz/Ozma of Oz books to the kids… saying that exposing them this young will make them hate reading!
