Good news (at least for me)

We gave up on our internet provider. Not only have we been having ongoing issues, resulting in the complete refusal of my computer to even get online since last week, but their number is now out of service and we have no way of contacting them.
So, we have finally decided to join the 21st [...]

My computer is on strike

This is just a quick note to let you know that I haven’t intentionally left the internet so abruptly. My internet connection stopped working…and I have all of 10 minutes left on my 15 minute library time limit!
See you around as soon as we have this corrected!

The hornbook and early literacy

As part of our studies on Jamestown, we are learning about the education children received. This can hardly be discussed without mention of the hornbook, and what self-respecting homeschooler wouldn’t then go out and make one? Homeschooling Community

Free book offer

Tammy over at Reviews and Comments on the Fly is offering to give away a book to some lucky commenter in honor of Buy A Friend A Book Week. I’ve never heard of the book and know absolutely nothing about it, but as I said previously, I will do just about anything legal and [...]

The Key to Freedom: literacy or a conditioned response?

Thanks to the weeding going on in a nice little used bookstore downtown, I recently acquired an old copy of The Federalists, A Study in Administrative History by Leonard D. White, at no cost. I haven’t had a chance to read any of it, yet, but on the back of the dust jacket is [...]

Carnivals of interest

A couple more carnivals, just in case you don’t have enough to do reading through the Carnival of Homeschooling’s anniversary edition.
Teaching in the Twenty First Century brings us the year’s first Carnival of Education. Although for the most part not about homeschooling (although you will recognize a few of the contributors if you surf [...]
