Britney Spears on parenting and dental hygiene

I never would have thought Britney Spears would make it onto my blog, but I cannot help but wonder what is wrong with our society when I glance at the headlines of the tabloids in the grocery store. That America has a voyeuristic fascination with the off-stage drama of our stars is not so interesting. But the headlines Spears made in Star Magazine is rather disturbing (from memory, emphasis added):

Britney Spears tells boys, “You were a mistake!” Makes out with guys in front of them, refuses to change their diapers, uses whitening strips on her teeth & more!

That Spears appears to be an unfit mother has been made painfully clear for all the world to see. But OH MY GOSH! She uses whitening strips? The horror! I wonder what that will be worth on eBay?

I could use some of those strips myself (the horror :)

Hi Dana, thanks so much for dropping by the other day.

    Cheers!

I think it must have been that she was using the whitening strips on her kids’ teeth. Right? I mean — it HAS to be, right?!? ;) ;) Surely no one would equate using Crest White strips with refusing to change a diaper unless the strips were used on the child in question. I don’t know whether to hope I’m right or hope I’m wrong. Hehehe.

Well, I for one am not going to judge Britney’s parenting. I think everything she has done has been blown way out of proportion due to media hype and attention. They poor girl is a young mother, raised in
the spotlight herself and is lost and trying to find her way–yes, she needs some help, but haven’t we all at one time or another.

And btw, NOT a Britney fan AT ALL LOL I just hate what the media has done to many of these young women and what these young women have allowed the media to do to them…where are their agents????

As for me…I have no real interest other than seeing that our national interest is more knowledgeable about Britney than Irag or the Bush Administration or anything else having to do with real importance ** shrug **

I just looked at the magazine last night, and it was on their teeth. But somehow it just doesn’t compare.

Shawna, I agree with these things not being of any “real” importance. That is why I so rarely talk about it. The fact that Americans care so much about it and so little about other things is telling.

I don’t follow any of it so I couldn’t offer any real opinions. But from what little I have seen, I think Spears is where she thought she wanted to be…with her recent hospitalization or whatever it was, I hope she is able to get whatever it is she actually needs.

Blog Bloke, thanks for stopping by yourself!

And Dana, hope I didn’t sound grouchy…these young starletts just irritate the heck out of me! They dominate our news here being 40 minutes from Hollywood with traffic.

And then the mommy messageboards that speak so holier-then-thou over trips holing a baby as if none of us have tripped and caught our balance and such while tending our kids…just got on my nerves after awhile. I was amazed at the celeb craze that so many of the mommies seemed to have. Again, maybe it is just being closer to the scene here that makes it not as interesting–I don’t know. Anyway, left the mommyboards for blogging and have never been happier!

So sorry if I sounded grouchy. Didn’y mean for it to come across that way. This star definitely has issues it seems–whitening strips, I don’t know about LOL, parenting I won’t judge.

You did not sound grouchy. The only reason I brought it up to begin with is the list of aleged abuses. The whitening strips are hardly on the same level.

I don’t know any more about any of them than what I see on the covers of magazines in the checkout aisle. Without TV, I have to look for my news and the fiascos with Spears, Hilton, Jolie, etc., just are not on my list of things I can’t live without.

I use Crest Whitening Strips. The nice part about those is that once you use them for a time you don’t have to use them again. They really do work.

As for Brit’s parental abilities, I think the gossip rags are over doing it. Photo shop can do A LOT!
