Renae, you are so sweet. I almost cried this morning when I saw how much my parents donated...and the other donor is my mom's boss. I already knew our greatest advantage was the support of our family, but that is truly humbling.

But seriously, just a dollar or two would make everyone here jump up and down. I wasn't really expecting anything which is why we set our goal so low. :)

Yes, the final diagnosis is Ulcerative Colitis, a chronic but generally manageable disease causing inflammation of the colon. There are a lot of complications and heightened risk of cancer, not to mention the meds are nasty.

But she is responding well and I hope she won't need the really yucky stuff very often.

Thanks for asking. We should be getting some money from the government, i.e. you, soon. I'll give some of it back, okay? :)

I'm sorry to hear that, but it sounds like that is common. I just read a report that said that while 75% of Crohn's and ulcerative colitis sufferers thought that pain was just a part of their lives, only 25% of doctors thought it was that way.

It sounds like most people just ignore the pain and rarely talk about it, even with the medical staff charged with their care.

My sister-in-law has Crohn's and suffers a lot more than she usually lets on. It's a nasty disease.
