Homeschooling Network

The Homeschooling Network is a FeedBurner network which exists to help promote member homeschooling blogs. Essentially, it pulls member feeds together into a single feed which is published and available for public viewing. Here is the page for the Homeschooling Network to see what it looks like.

There are a number of advantages to this network, I believe. The page will allow interested readers to peruse a number of posts from the homeschooling community quickly and you can subscribe to the network’s feed to have that delivered straight to your feed reader. You can also download all member feeds as an opml file if you desire.

When you accept the invitation, you will be asked if you are interested in hosting advertising in your feed, which is purely optional. That may be an advantage to some, and a non-issue for others.

Qualifications:

1) Your blog must be a “homeschooling blog.” That does not mean that everything you write about has to be about homeschooling, but readers should be able to tell you homeschool.

2) Your blog should be family-friendly. That means no pornography or (much) profanity.  The first seems self-explanatory to me.  The second has wide interpretation.  The main reason for it is that there is an option to place the feeds in the sidebars of member blogs and many bloggers, myself included, wish to keep our own blogs free of profanity.

3) You will need a feed published through FeedBurner. While this can be a little confusing at first, I can help you through most of it. Here is some information to get you started: FeedBurner basics.

If you are interested, all I need is your email address so that I can send you an invitation. You can leave a comment here or email me at gottsegnetATyahooDOTcom. I will then send you an invitation and try to answer any questions the best I can.

At the bottom of the Homeschooling Network sidebar, there are options to help with promotion. This is purely optional, but allows members to help promote each other’s content. I will be adding this to my sidebar as soon as I figure out how to get some of the rest of my clutter cleaned up!
